Title: Great for Beginner Year: 2003
Rating (1=Low : 5=High): 5
Review: I am a beginning trap shooter. I wanted a shotgun that was comfortable to hold (I'm 5'10", 175lbs) and that wouldn't break my arm off when fired. I also wanted the opportunity to use the gun for larger loads (turkey) if the opportunity arose. The Traditions ALS is a perfect general purpose 12 gauge. It's very light, the recoil is good because of the gas operation and it comes with 5 chokes so you aren't limited in use. Also, it holds 2 3/4 and 3 inch shells. The only draw back, at least at first, was that it didn't cycle through - I would have to manually eject the cartridges. However, after about 300 rounds - including a few heavy loads - I haven't a problem with cheap target loads. My only concern are some of the reviews I have read elsewhere. Some of them have been bad. I have never had a problem with the gun and I really like it.
Pluses: light, low recoil, beautiful finish Minuses: Needs to be broken in to fully cycle
Suggestions: note in manual about having to break the gun in to cycle properly Suggestions: better manual for beginners
